Custom CRM Development

CRM solutions built from scratch for companies that need full control without Microsoft licensing: pipeline, customer service, field operations and reporting on a stack you own.

Solzet builds custom CRM systems for organizations that need CRM capabilities but can't or won't adopt Microsoft Dynamics 365 licensing. Our senior consultants and full-stack developers use React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, .NET and TypeScript to deliver pipeline management, customer service, field operations and reporting on a platform the client fully owns, from source code to data model to hosting. Custom CRM is not a competitor to Dynamics 365; it is the alternative when licensing or control rules Microsoft out. We recommend the right solution - whether that's Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or a custom-built CRM. Some businesses need the Microsoft ecosystem. Others need full control without licensing. We deliver both. Delivered from Yerevan with 8+ years of CRM experience.

Why do companies choose a custom CRM instead of Dynamics 365?

Most organizations that come to us for a custom CRM have already looked at Dynamics 365, Salesforce or HubSpot and found one of four blockers. None of them means the packaged platforms are bad products; they mean the licensing model or the platform boundary does not fit this particular business.

When none of these apply, we will usually recommend Dynamics 365 or Power Platform instead, because configuring a mature platform is faster than building one. When one or more of them do apply, a custom CRM gives you the same business capabilities without the constraint.

  • Licensing that does not scale with the business. Per-user subscriptions compound as headcount grows, and they hit hardest when many people need light access, such as field staff, branch employees or seasonal teams.
  • Full ownership and no vendor lock-in. You own the source code, the database and the roadmap, and nobody can change the price or retire a feature you depend on.
  • Data sovereignty and hosting rules. Government bodies and regulated organizations sometimes must host on their own infrastructure or in-country, which a public cloud CRM cannot always satisfy.
  • A process no packaged CRM expresses well. When the core of the business is a workflow that would need heavy customization on any platform, building it directly is often simpler to run and cheaper to change.

What can a custom CRM do?

Everything a business expects from a CRM, designed around your process rather than around a vendor's data model. We scope a first release around the process that matters most, then extend it in phases, so people use the system early and shape what comes next.

  • Pipeline and opportunity management with stages, forecasts, quotes and activity history.
  • Customer service and case management with queues, SLAs, escalation rules and a knowledge base.
  • Field operations: work orders, scheduling, dispatch and a mobile interface for technicians.
  • Customer and partner portals where external users submit requests and track progress.
  • Reporting and dashboards over live data, plus exports your analysts can use.
  • Integrations with email, telephony, accounting and billing systems, websites and existing line-of-business applications through documented APIs.
  • Role-based security, audit trails and multilingual interfaces, including Armenian, Russian and English.

Which technologies do we build custom CRMs with?

We use mainstream, well-supported open technologies so any competent team can maintain the system after us, and so there is no licence to pay for the stack itself.

LayerTechnologyWhy it matters
InterfaceReact, Next.js and TypeScriptFast, accessible web interfaces that work on desktop and mobile, with typed code that stays maintainable as the system grows.
Application and APINode.js (TypeScript) or .NETBusiness logic and integrations behind a documented API. We choose .NET where your organization already standardizes on it.
DatabasePostgreSQLA proven open-source relational database with strong data integrity, full-text search and no licence cost.
IdentitySingle sign-on over OpenID ConnectUsers sign in with the accounts they already have, such as Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, with role-based permissions inside the CRM.
HostingYour cloud or your own serversAzure, AWS, a local data centre or on-premises infrastructure, chosen to meet your security and data residency requirements.

How does a custom CRM project run?

The same way our Dynamics 365 projects run, which is deliberate: discovery first, then short iterations you can see and test. Commercially we work fixed price per milestone where scope is clear, or time and materials against a prioritized backlog, and we quote after a scoping conversation rather than before one.

  • Discovery: map the processes, users, data and integrations, and confirm that a custom build is genuinely the right answer rather than a platform you could configure.
  • Design: the data model, the screens for each role, the security model and the integration contracts, reviewed with the people who will use them.
  • Iterative build in two-week sprints, each ending with a working demo in a test environment.
  • Data migration from spreadsheets, legacy systems or another CRM, with reconciliation reports so nothing is lost silently.
  • Go-live, training and hypercare, followed by ongoing support and development from the same engineers.

Custom CRM or Dynamics 365: which costs less over time?

It depends on the shape of your organization, so we compare total cost of ownership over several years rather than the first invoice. Dynamics 365 is a recurring per-user licence plus implementation; a custom CRM is a build plus hosting and support with no per-user licence. We do not publish prices because scope drives both, but the factors below decide which way the comparison falls.

FactorDynamics 365 tends to win whenCustom CRM tends to win when
UsersA modest number of full users work in the system all day. Many users need light or occasional access, so per-user licensing multiplies.
ProcessYour processes are close to standard sales, service and field service patterns.Your core workflow is specific enough that any platform would need heavy customization.
EcosystemYou run Microsoft 365 and Teams and want Copilot and the Microsoft roadmap. You want independence from any single vendor's roadmap and pricing.
Time to valueYou need standard capabilities quickly and can adapt to the platform. You can phase delivery and want the system shaped exactly to the business.
HostingMicrosoft cloud regions satisfy your data residency requirements. You must host in-country or on your own infrastructure.

Can you move from a custom CRM to Dynamics 365 later?

Yes, and we design for that possibility. A custom CRM we build has a documented data model and API, so migrating its data to Dynamics 365 and Dataverse later is a planned project rather than an archaeology exercise. Because we deliver both, we can also run the migration ourselves. The reverse is true too: organizations that have outgrown a Dynamics 365 implementation that never fitted them can move to a custom system with their history intact.

What do buyers ask us?

How much does a custom CRM cost compared to Dynamics 365?

It depends on scope, and we do not publish prices. The fair comparison is total cost over several years. Dynamics 365 costs a recurring per-user licence plus implementation and support. A custom CRM costs a one-time build, then hosting and ongoing support, with no per-user licence. With a modest number of users and standard processes Dynamics 365 is often cheaper; with many users, light usage or a very specific process a custom build often is. We model both options after a scoping conversation and quote per milestone.

When should I choose custom CRM over Dynamics 365?

Use a simple rule. If you can afford the licensing and want the Microsoft ecosystem, choose Dynamics 365. If you need full control of the platform and zero per-user licensing, choose a custom CRM. If you are not sure, a short discovery decides it by weighing licensing budget, process complexity, integrations, hosting requirements and long-term ownership. We deliver both, so the recommendation follows your situation rather than the product we sell.

Can you migrate from a custom CRM to Dynamics 365 later?

Yes. The custom CRMs we build have a documented data model and API, which makes a later migration to Dynamics 365 and Dataverse a planned, predictable project. Because we deliver Dynamics 365 as well, the same team can map the data, migrate the history and rebuild the business rules on the Microsoft platform when the time is right.

What technologies do you use for custom CRM development?

React, Next.js and TypeScript for the interface, Node.js or .NET for the application layer and APIs, and PostgreSQL for the database, with single sign-on over OpenID Connect and hosting on Azure, AWS, a local data centre or your own servers. These are mainstream, well-supported technologies, so the system is maintainable by any competent team and carries no licence cost for the stack itself.

Do you provide ongoing support for custom-built CRMs?

Yes. After go-live we support and extend the system with the same engineers who built it, either as a monthly allocation of hours or as scoped enhancement work. Support covers monitoring, security updates, bug fixes, new features as your processes change, and help for your own team if you decide to take development in-house.

Who owns the source code and the data of a custom CRM?

You do. Ownership of the source code, the database, the documentation and the deployment configuration is written into the contract before work starts. The system runs in your cloud account or on your infrastructure, so you are never dependent on us to access your own data.

Is a custom CRM secure enough for government and regulated organizations?

It can be designed to meet strict requirements, and for some public sector bodies it is the only option that satisfies in-country hosting rules. We build role-based access control, audit trails, encryption in transit and at rest, single sign-on and data retention rules into the design, and we support your security review and penetration testing before go-live.

Is a custom CRM the right fit for you?

Describe your process and what you use today. A senior consultant replies within one business day and tells you honestly whether a custom build, Dynamics 365, or Power Platform fits best.
