PCF Controls Development for a UK Microsoft Partner

The Challenge

A UK-based Microsoft Solutions Partner won a large Dynamics 365 implementation for a healthcare organization but lacked in-house TypeScript/React expertise for the 8 custom PCF controls required by the project. Hiring permanent PCF developers was not cost-effective for a single project. The partner needed a reliable subcontractor who could deliver production-quality PCF controls on a fixed timeline, work under their brand with the end client, and integrate into their Azure DevOps workflow.

The Solution

Solzet provided 2 senior PCF developers who worked as white-label members of the partner's delivery team for 3 months. All communication used the partner's email and Teams channels. Deliverables included: a custom patient timeline PCF control (React-based, showing medical history on a D365 form); an interactive scheduling grid for appointment management; a document viewer with annotation capabilities; a custom search control with advanced filtering for patient records; and 4 additional form-level and dataset-level controls. All controls were built in TypeScript + React + Fluent UI, tested across browsers, packaged as managed solutions, and documented for the partner's internal maintenance team. Code was committed to the partner's Azure DevOps repository with full PR review process.

Results & Outcomes

All 8 PCF controls delivered on time over 3 months

Project completed under the original budget estimate for external PCF work

Zero post-deployment bugs reported in first 3 months of production use

Partner subsequently engaged Solzet for 2 additional projects
